It's very rare to actually see something like this being built. Many of the Buddha images and statues in Chiang Mai date back hundreds of years (if not more). The Chiang Mai Flower Festival parade starts at around 09:00 am and doesn't finish until Midday. Needless to say as the sun starts to get higher and creep it's way up to noon the heat starts to get to everyone as they march along the route. Whenever the parade stops, halts or is held up you will notice many trying to take a quick rest whilst they can. If there's one thing I despise it's the illegal trade in animal skins. Due to this mercenary and barbaric act many species of animal are now threatened with extinction. This tiger skin however was different as it was still on the tiger...and the tiger was alive! Never thought I'd be brave enough to put my hands on a living tiger but it was a wonderful experience! This photo shows the beauty of the markings. In Mae Sa there is a multi tier waterfall. From the car park you can walk up (slowly and carefully) to each level until you reach level 8 at the very top! These steps run alongside the waterfall. On top of the hill in Mae Sai there is a temple called Wat Phra That Wai Dao. In the grounds of the temple their is a multi levelled tower that you can climb to the top of. This is the view looking west from the top of the tower.
