Pan, the great god of woods and nature, has only to blow on his conch to send all who listened into a panic - all who heard were struck by a terrible, unreasoning fear, and fled!

It was interesting drawing this today, I asked several of my family what colour panic was, and got a myriad of different answers...none of which I used in the end (but all of which were very interesting), for the panic spiraling from Pan's conch.

In the end I chose what looked good to my eye...the thin trickle of panic from the unblown conch spirals around, looking for victims even before the main event! That thready feeling in your chest...trickling in and starting to mount as Pan raises his conch to sound out the panic!

<media:keywords>satyr, faun, composite monster, god, pagan, greek, roman, conch, pipes, original, illustration, alicia smith, leecetheartist</media:keywords><media:rating scheme="urn:mpaa">g</media:rating>

A cryptozoologist will be lucky if they see this species - Draco resplendens during their lifetime. Not because these beautiful creatures are particularly rare, but because of the dense equatorial rainforests in which they live. They habitat the dense undergrowth and midstory strata of the forest, rarely, if ever, ascending to the tops of the trees. Many cite the beast's habit of destroying bulldozers as evidence of intelligence. These attacks appear to be closely coordinated, with a loosely affiliated group of dragons operating together, apparently coming together to deal with the threat. Hunters that target Peacock Dragons rarely last long. However, cryptozoologists and other naturalists who make no attempt to capture or harm the dragons have often been able to approach quite closely, and several people have reported that when observing a resplendens through binoculars, to have been very surprised to have turned around and found themselves face to face with a curious dragon!
